Must be proficient in traditional and contemporary music.
Familiarity with Christian liturgical tradition and Lutheran worship preferred. 12 hours/week.

DUTIES:
Two worship services per Sunday, appropriate prelude, special music and
postlude, Liturgical Settings.
Wednesday night Lenten Services (six weeks before Easter)
Easter (3) services
Two Christmas Eve Services (7:00 and 11:00)
Accompany weekly choir rehearsal (estimate 1-1/2 hrs or 6 hrs per month)
Accompany and rehearse for vocal or instrumental solos, particularly
summer services
Cooperate with other church musicians/groups for yearly planning etc.
Pay-Competitive salary DOE
Estimate of 12 hours per week, church related rehearsal, private practice, preparation, music research etc.
Provide appropriate music for weddings.

Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Pastor and worship/music coordinator
provide music for all Sunday morning services and
other season services of the church such as Thanksgiving, Advent, mid-week services, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, mid-week
Lenten services, Holy Week and Easter Sunday.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
-Proficiency in organ and piano performance.
-Knowledge of the instrument, organ and piano, to play hymns, liturgy
and anthem accompaniments.
-Bachelor of Music or Organ Performance preferred.
_Knowledge of basic music theory, including simple transposition or
or harmonizing a melody.
-Skill in leading congregational singing and accompanying soloists and choirs.
-Ability to select music complementing Lutheran liturgical seasons of the church year.
-Ability to work well with others.
-Organizational skills with a focus on time and budgetary management.
-Flexibility in readily adapting to Pastor's potential changes to the order of the worship.
Responsibilities and Duties:
-Provide musical leadership for all regular worship services as well as seasonal and special event services.
-Prepare music for worship(hymns, liturgies, voluntaries, special music.
-Continue personal musical growth at own expense. After having served for three years may apply for a stipend to attend a workshop of
his/her choice, whether inside or outside of the State of Alaska. The stipend may be available every other year thereafter.
-Purchase his/her own music. Suggestions for music to be purchased by the church should be written on appropriate form and turned
into the Music Coordinator.
-Recommend tuning, repair and maintenance of the organ and piano.
-Ability to work well with others.
